How Daily Content Makes You Happy…Or Sad

Caleb Jones

How much content do you consume in one day? Is it good content? Bad content? Does it make you happy or sad? What many of us fail to recognize is just how much consuming content impacts our daily emotions and health.

We are constantly consuming content. This content distracts us most of the time. The content we choose to consume hopefully teaches us.

Right now, you’re consuming content and in some way, it will affect you. I hope in a good way.

Our everyday existence, therefore our happiness, is influenced by the content we consume.

News, real or not, books, blogs, everything is content. We have almost no control over the content created. Our control is whether we choose to consume it or not. So what do you choose?

Happiness Is a Choice

Think about all the decisions you make in a single day. Are most positive or negative? What control do you have over your happiness?

Most decisions affect our future, whether immediate or distant. Happiness is ever present. It’s why I create art. Not for money or to impress others. But to fulfill my own happiness.

Hopefully to give other’s happiness too.

Joshua Earle

If I’ve learned anything in recent years, is to be happy is to be healthy. It’s a choice. It’s one we can all make.

“Happiness is not something you postpone for the future; it is something you design for the present.”

-Jim Rohn

So think about planning your happiness. Whether it involves something creative like painting or drawing. Or maybe exercise. Or maybe spending more time with the people that make you…happy.

Consuming content isn’t the key to happiness. At least not all content. Learning to turn off the negative is the lesson.

It’s a journey and a daily project. Blocking out the negative news, the constant bad, takes effort. The content for negativity needs no marketing. It’s just there.

Blocking out the bad is what will make us, individually, healthier and happier. Spending time with those we love and not constantly consuming content and watching cat videos will make us happier.

Listening to music will make us happier. Yes, that’s content, but I’ll let that slide.

You can live a healthy, happy life without constantly consuming content. Go. Live. Be happy.
