It’s Monday. Your week just started and you’re scratching your head what to write about.

Join the club.

I’ve spent the better part of today wondering what I could possibly write about. I’ve neglected my content calendar so of course, I have nothing specifically to post for this hot, sunny Monday.

Then it hit me, why not a quick, simple, motivational list to start the weekContinue reading “7 Odd Ways To Spark Your Creativity”

Why Opportunity Should Scare You

Opportunity

When an opportunity presents itself, are you scared? Can you accept the risk? Should you accept the risk?

The answer depends on you. But without risk, there is no success.

Opportunity should scare you. If it doesn’t, maybe it’s not really something you should pursue. There is no success without risk. Every “successful” person has taken risks.

Every business is a risk.

Artists take risks every day. It’s called experimentation. It’s trying to figure out what works and what doesn’t. But the key is to not let that fear of risk hold you back. Creativity is risky.

That’s the fun part.

Unleash The Creative Opportunist

Each of us has what I call the inner creative opportunist. It doesn’t sound catchy, but each of us is looking for opportunities to show how creative we are.

We are opportunists. Our creativity needs it. Our inner risk-taker wants those moments to let loose. I see designs and art every day. It’s as if the proverbial light-bulb goes off. The little voice in my head says “you can make that.”

It’s an opportunity. It’s a risk. Too many times what I think I can make doesn’t quite work out.

Not to mention, my inner introvert competes with my inner risk-taker. Do you know that feeling?

There’s nothing wrong with being an introvert. Don’t let anyone tell you differently. But don’t stop yourself from taking artistic risk. If you let yourself be intimidated by risks, you will not grow and learn.

This applies to anything, not just art. Business, writing, exercise (well be careful with the exercise), but risks are everywhere. So are successes. Writing this blog is a huge risk. Every time I write, I put myself out there and who knows what others would say. But that’s part of the fun.

Wrap Up

When an opportunity presents itself, look at the risks, but don’t hold yourself back. Don’t let fear of failure keep you from achieving success. Focus on what your goal is and let your passion take you down your path.

If you hit a bump in the road, learn and overcome. Unleash your potential.

What risks have you taken that succeeded? What risks failed? What did you learn?
