There are many obstacles holding you back from being creative. But, it’s your negative self-talk that is the biggest challenge. Our brains default to this negative mindset.
This does nothing for your creative journey. We know this and we keep, instinctively, telling ourselves that we can’t do this. We don’t allow ourselves to be creative.
The challenge for me and you, is to not only find our creative path, but to stay on that journey each day. Creativity is a daily struggle. It’s what I call, the Creative Pursuit.
As humans, we have an innate desire to make. I believe we are all creators at heart. Societies are made by those who make things, and artists, writers, musicians, designers are the foundation of civilization.
Think about his, humanity has pursued creativity since pigment was splattered on the walls of caves.
“The secret of getting ahead is getting started.” — Mark Twain
Obviously those early artists did not buy into the “I can’t” mentality. Imagine where humanity would be if those who came before us simply said “I can’t, therefore I won’t.”
So ask yourself, why can’t you do this creative thing? There is nothing stopping you other than yourself. Don’t buy into that negative self-talk. If you give up anything, give us saying you can’t.
