Why A Brilliant Blog Post Title Can Get Tons of Clicks (With Free Printable Power Word List)

Blog Post Titles

Blogging is essential to any content marketing. We all know this. Content marketing for creative entrepreneurs is key in today’s saturated digital world. The problem is getting noticed. How can one expect to be found if one doesn’t go above and beyond to create good, valuable content?

The answer is simple: you won’t.

A good blog post starts at the very beginning with the title.

Just like the front page of a newspaper, a quality, catchy headline has to hook the reader. A visual artist wants to evoke emotion when others see their work. A blog post title needs to make the reader feel they need to read the post.

There are a number of things that go into a blog post and creating a blog post title that will catch readers. For this post, I want to focus on the use of strong, powerful words in your post titles.

The Title Is the Hook

Think back to how many times you clicked on a link because of how catchy it was. Curiosity is a basic human trait and clickbait works every time. I’m not advocating for you to become a clickbait pro. What you need to do is learn how to create that “hook” in your post titles.

Notice for this post I used the word “brilliant.” What I’m writing about isn’t necessarily profound, but you clicked.

As any poet, writer or blogger knows, words hold power. Visual creatives are not always comfortable with their writing. But your content marketing relies on having a hook to get readers into your sales funnel. We talk about keywords and their importance, but what about basic vocabulary and writing? Using words of strength and emotion are just as important as finding the right keyword.

Vocabulary List

To help those of us who struggle with vocabulary, here’s a short list of dynamic, effective words you can use in your blog post titles:

  • Brilliant

Wrap Up

The content of what you post will always be the most important aspect of any good blog. When I write, my goal is to provide value in everything I write. I want my posts to be simple yet effective. I want to tell my readers a story and provide guidance from what I’ve learned. It’s that value that we’re all searching for. Using words to provide that hook, is the key.

What words can you think of that will catch readers?

Why Creatives Should Reuse Old Content

Sometimes, I like to use my old content. For you marketers, this is already a known tactic. But for us creative entrepreneurs, reusing old content is just as beneficial. Reusing some of my old stuff helps with the creativity too. I’ve been known to forget some of my newer ideas. So reviewing and using old stuff actually sparks creativity. My old ideas are new once again. What’s interesting is how relevant something I posted two years ago is today. Continue reading “Why Creatives Should Reuse Old Content”
